Prime Minister Modi underlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy and sincere and practical engagement among all stakeholders to achieve a lasting and peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Russia andUkrainehave been engaged in conflict since February 2022.

Prime Minister Modi had visited Russia in July to participate in the 22nd India-Russia bilateral summit.

He will visit Russia on October 22-23 to participate in the 16th BRICS Summit, which will be held in Kazan, under the Russian presidency.

During his press briefing,PresidentPutin said Russia wanted to concludeUkrainecrisis by peaceful means.

“Russia wants to conclude it by peaceful means. It was not us who stopped the negotiations, but it was the Ukrainian side,” he said.

Putin said the United States had spoiled its relations with Russia by continually imposing sanctions and that this had had a negative impact on them.

Focusing on the United States, Putin said that “the whole world is wondering whether the dollar is worth using”…
“Even traditional allies of the United States have reduced their dollar reserves… The United States is about 15 years behind, it will not be able to stop China's development,” he said.

Replying to another question, he said BRICS was never meant to oppose anyone. “The IndianPrime Minister(Narendra Modi) said that BRICS is not an anti-Western group, it is a non-Western group…,” Putin said.
He said Russia and China have established a unique relationship. “The interaction of Russia and China in the international arena is one of the key factors of global strategic stability…”

“Our relations with China are based on taking into account each other’s interests,” he said.

He stressed that the main indicator of change within the BRICS bloc is the emergence of new development centers, especially in the South, Southeast Asia and Africa. According to Putin, these regions are poised for “fairly rapid” economic growth, fueled by various factors that will shape the next phase of global economic power.

Putin said countries in Southeast Asia and Africa, where growth has been moderate but steady, are poised to become important players in the global economy. “The level of development of countries with moderate growth rates means that they have already reached a certain level of development.”

THERussianPresidentpointed out that the BRICS countries, which include China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Russia, represent a considerable part of the world's population and landmass.

“BRICS represents 45 percent of the planet's population, 33 percent of the land mass,” he said, underscoring the bloc's geopolitical weight.

He highlighted that trade among BRICS countries has seen continuous growth, thereby strengthening their collective economic strength. “There has been continued growth in trade (in BRICS countries),” he said, reinforcing the bloc's role as a key player in global trade. (ANI)
