Wife of imprisoned former Pakistani PM Imran Khan released on bail

ISLAMABAD (AP) The wife of jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was released from a high-security prison in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on Thursday, a day after a court granted her bail in a corruption case. Bushra Bibi's release comes six months after an appeals court suspended a 14-year prison sentence given to the couple after they were found guilty of possessing and selling state gifts in violation of government rules when Khan was in power. But they were indicted in July on new counts of withholding state gifts and held in custody awaiting trial. Both have denied any wrongdoing. Khan has been involved in more than 150 legal cases since 2022, when he was ousted in a vote of no confidence in Parliament.
