Prime Minister Modi today initiated bilateral talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that Germany has decided to increase the number of visas granted to skilled Indian workers each year from 20,000 to 90,000, news agency AFP reported.

Modi receives German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for three days, during which the two engaged in bilateral negotiations regarding trade between the two countries, which constitute the world's fifth and third largest economies, respectively.

“Today, Indians make up the largest group of foreign students at our universities. Last year alone, the number of Indians working in Germany increased by 23,000. He added that visa procedures would also be improved through digitalization, faster processing and user-friendly initiatives, AFP reported.
