RADARINDRAMAYU.ID – Goalkeeper of the Indonesian national team, Maarten Paes, expressed his thanks to Joko Widodo, who has just completed his term as President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Jokowi, who led Indonesia for ten years (2014-2024), received many appreciations for his contribution, especially from Paes.

Through his personal Instagram account, Paes shared the moment he shook hands with Jokowi after the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Australia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta on September 10, 2024.

In this match, Paes put up an extraordinary performance, managing to resist dangerous attacks from Australian players and maintain a 0-0 draw for Indonesia.

With FC Dallas not qualifying for the MLS 2024 play-offs, Maarten Paes currently has more time on his hands until the MLS 2025 competition resumes in February next year.

For the Indonesian national team, the presence of Paes, who has international experience, could be an important key to strengthening the Garuda team's defense line in the tournament.
