These roads will remain closed ahead of PM Modi and Spanish PM Sanchez's visit, check details
Vadodara city police issued a notification stating the closure of 33 roads and alternative routes ahead of the arrival of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in the city on Sunday evening.
The road closure and detour will be in effect from Sunday evening until the end of the event on Monday. A large VVIP movement is expected in Vadodara with Union ministers, delegations and special business guests also arriving in the city.
The area between the domestic airport and the TATA Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) manufacturing plant, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart, has been transformed into a fortress. Sanchez will stay at Lakshmi Villas Palace and ITC Welcomhotel.
According to the Vadodara City Police notification issued on Saturday, 33 routes were diverted at Harni, VIP Road, Fatehgunj, Gorwa, Akota, Pandya Bridge, Atal Bridge, Alkapuri, Chakli Circle and OP Road leading mainly to the airport and TASL facilities. as well as routes to the Welcomhotel in Alkapuri, where the Spanish Prime Minister will be accommodated.
Traffic has also been restricted on roads leading to Rajmahal Road, where leaders of the two countries will travel for a vital bilateral meeting and lunch. Traffic will be restricted from Sunday 10:00 p.m. to Monday 3:00 a.m. and from Monday 6:00 a.m. until the end of the events.
Prime Minister Sánchez will arrive at Vadodara Airport on Sunday and head to ITC Welcomhotel for the night, as per the notification. On Monday morning, he will leave for the airport circle and join Prime Minister Modi at the TASL premises for the inauguration.
As per the notification, vehicles traveling to the airport will be allowed on presentation of valid tickets, with an exemption for vehicles rushed by emergency services, such as ambulances, fire brigade and police patrols.
