JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo received a complaint from a resident of Samarinda, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) who had not received compensation for his land used for the construction of a toll road.
Jokowi also promised to contact relevant officials in Jakarta to follow up on the complaint.
Joko Widodo shared residents' complaints via his official Instagram account @Jokowi on Saturday (10/26/2024).
In the video, mothers wearing T-shirts and masks can be seen expressing their complaints to Jokowi.
Jokowi was seen accompanied by his aide, Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah and Windra Sanur, the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) attached to the former Jakarta governor.

From inside the car, Jokowi heard his mother's story about acquiring land without compensation.
“Exemption for what?” » asked Jokowi. “The toll road, sir, has not been paid for until now, I have been lied to,” the mother replied. “A lot of tolls?” Jokowi asked for confirmation.
“That's what three people had, sir, made one. Oh sir, I mean separate, sir. They didn't want to separate them, sir. Made one, sir, we're called in-laws, sir, we separated them from other brothers and sisters,” the mothers said.

Hearing the story, Jokowi then asked Syarif to write down the mother's number. The father of Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka promised to contact his mother next Monday.
“So that's it, what day is it, Saturday.” Monday, Monday, I will contact Jakarta first,” Jokowi replied.
Hearing Jokowi's response, the mother then asked for a group photo. Syarif appeared to be helping his mother find her cell phone.
“If possible, I would like to take a photo, sir. Take a photo. Thank God,” the mother said. “Yes, it’s good to take photos,” Jokowi said.

Meanwhile, in the statement posted online, Jokowi said Samarinda's mother attempted to meet him five times.
“I heard that this lady tried 5 times to come from Samarinda to meet me, to complain about the fate of her land which was sold for the Samarinda toll road project and did not receive compensation to this day,” Jokowi wrote.
Jokowi emphasized that even though he is retired, he will still open space to hear residents' complaints.
The former mayor of Solo admitted that he would continue to devote himself to the Indonesian people.
“Even though my position and responsibilities as president have ended, I still give space and time to hear people's complaints. My heart is for this nation, for Indonesia,” he said. -he added.
