Toshakhana II case: Imran and Bushra Bibi indictment postponed to October 29

Court adjourns hearing of case due to permission of Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand

ISLAMABAD: The court on Saturday postponed the chargesheet proceedings against incarcerated Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi under Toshakhana-II reference.

The court adjourned the hearing till October 29, without any proceedings due to the permission of Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand. The court will now indict former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana II on October 29.

Earlier, the arraignment proceedings against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana II case were postponed due to security concerns as the previous hearing was held at Islamabad Court Complex instead of Adiala Jail .

On August 20, the NAB had filed a Toshakhana-II appeal against Khan and his wife over a set of jewelry gifted by the Saudi crown prince.

He objected to Khan and his wife being heard on bail by the accountability court. After the reinstatement of the NAB amendment, hearings on bail applications do not fall within the jurisdiction of this court, he said.

He said after the NAB Act was amended, the matter had to be transferred to the competent court.

The court, to which the case would be transferred, would decide on post-arrest bail applications, he said.

Bushra Bibi released on bail

Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been released from prison almost nine months after the couple were convicted in a case linked to the illegal sale of state gifts.

Bibi was released from Adiala jail in the garrison town of Rawalpindi on Thursday after being granted bail the previous day by the Islamabad High Court.
