Prabowo must budget IDR 10.74 billion per year for salaries of 48 ministers
BUKAMATA – President Prabowo increased the number of ministers in his government. With this amount, the budget dedicated to paying the salaries of presidential assistants also increases.
Prabowo announced that the number of the Red and White Cabinet reached 48 people, an increase compared to the advanced Indonesian Cabinet during the reign of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, which was 34 people.
During the Prabowo era, the budgetary requirements for ministers' financial rights were estimated to be around IDR 10.74 billion per year, while during the Jokowi era it was IDR 7.60 billion.
This budget requirement takes into account the basic salary of ministers as stated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 60 of 2000. The value is IDR 5,040,000 per month.
“The Minister of State receives a basic salary of IDR 5,040,000.00 (five million forty thousand rupees) per month,” cited in Article 2 of PP No. 60/2000.
Furthermore, the amount of post allowances for ministers stipulated in Presidential Decree Number 68 of 2001 is IDR 13,608,000 per month.
“The Minister of State, the Attorney General and the Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Army and other officials whose position or appointment is at the same level or equivalent to that of the Minister of State amount to 13 608,000 Rp”, cited in article 1e of Presidential Decree No. 68/2001.
So, in one month only for basic salary and post allowance, ministers earn an income of IDR 18,648,000, and this becomes IDR 223,776,000 in one year.
But, of course, this calculation does not include the financial rights and other facilities received by ministers. Because there are also operating allowances and other facilities, such as official vehicles, office accommodation and health services through health insurance schemes, performance allowances, religious festival allowances and of 13th salaries.
Ministerial operational funds are regulated by Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 268 of 2014, and performance allocations are regulated by Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 176 of 2015.
