Trump calls controversial Madison Square Garden rally an 'absolute love fest'

PALM BEACH, Florida. Just a week before the November general election, former President Donald Trump delivered a speech from Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday.

Trump did not address the controversy surrounding a rally at New York's Madison Square Garden over the weekend, during which comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”

At Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, Trump referenced the event as a whole, calling it a true hometown love fest.

Hinchcliffe's remark drew widespread condemnation and highlighted the rise of a key Latino group in the swing state of Pennsylvania. He also made demeaning jokes about black people, other Latinos, Palestinians and Jews during his routine before Trump's appearance.

The Harris campaign released an ad that will run online in battleground states, targeting Puerto Rican voters and highlighting the comedians' remarks.

The comments earned Vice President Kamala Harris a show of support from Puerto Rican music star Bad Bunny and sparked reactions from Republicans in Florida and Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico Republican Party Chairman Ngel Cintrn dismissed a comedian's comments at a Trump rally in New York, where he called the U.S. territory a floating island of garbage.

Cintrn said Tony Hinchcliffe's poor attempt at comedy on Sunday was shameful, ignorant and completely reprehensible.

There is no place for such absurd and racist comments. They do not represent the conservative values of Republicanism anywhere in our country, Cintrn said in a statement.

He noted that there are 3 million U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico and nearly 6 million on the U.S. mainland.

Whether we are Republicans or Democrats, we are American and Puerto Rican citizens proud of our roots and our incalculable contributions to American democracy for more than a hundred years, Cintrn said.

With a week until general election voting ends, Trump reflected on his presidential campaign Tuesday, saying, “We had a great campaign,” predicting that Harris will have to go home and get a job somewhere, who knows.

At Tuesday's rally at Mar-a-Lago, Tammy Nobles spoke about her daughter's death, saying the perpetrator was an MS-13 gang member in the country illegally.

Michael Koppy, owner of Go Green Dry Cleaners, explained how he has had to help other small businesses unable to keep up with inflation and rising costs.

Christy Shamblin, whose daughter-in-law Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee was killed during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, Donald Trump said demonstrating peace through strength.

Stating that the economy under Harris' tenure has caused destruction, Trump said any windfalls were fake.

He then quoted one of Wall Street's most respected figures who said the economy is only good because people think Trump is going to be elected.

As he did several times during his election campaign, Trump criticized federal authorities for dropping planeloads of migrants throughout the Midwest, mentioning Aurora, Colorado, and Springfield, Ohio.

In first announcing his intention, Trump said that as president, he would seize the assets of criminal gangs and drug cartels and use those assets to create a compensation fund to compensate victims of migrant crime.

Immigration reform and blaming Democrats for problems caused by the influx of immigrants across the U.S.-Mexico border has long been a signature theme of Trump's campaign, and with a week until the day of ballot, he sticks to that.

Stating that we are talking about inflation and the economy, Trump added: To me, there is nothing more important than the destruction of the social fabric of our country, calling the border the most important issue.

Trump released a video containing comments from the mother of Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old Texas girl found dead in a creek not far from her home.

Police have charged two Venezuelan men who entered the United States illegally with the girl's murder.

Alexis Nungaray said her daughter was six feet under because of Harris' decisions and called for Trump's re-election.

Trump accused Harris of not caring about the impact of her actions in what he called her campaign of absolute hatred, saying she intended to maintain this misery, and would maintain it for as long as that she could.

Trump alleged that Harris continues to talk about Hitler and the Nazis because her record is horrible.

Trump said the three formidable personalities on stage with him would share their own stories of how their lives were shattered by Harris's policies.

The GOP nominee said his Democratic rival, now Harris, is waging a campaign of destruction and absolute hatred, accusing his team of perhaps even trying to destroy our country.

Trump once again declared that Democrats stole the United States presidency by ousting Biden from their ticket this year.

Supporters cheered his name and raised their cell phones in the air as he entered the room, exactly a week before Election Day.

Two days before Halloween, the former president withdrew just after the broadcast of Michael Jackson's Thriller, which had become a staple of several of his election rallies.

Trump began his speech by saying things were going great, but he noted some bad spots in Pennsylvania where serious things have been detected or are being detected.

Reading from a newspaper on the podium in front of him, Trump began by criticizing Harris, saying she had erased our borders and caused so much destruction and death at home and abroad.

Dozens of supporters, many wearing pro-Trump outfits, stood near their seats and craned their necks to see if the GOP nominee and former president was about to enter a room adorned with Mar-a- Lake equipped for his remarks.

Several American flags and a screen with the words TRUMP WILL FIX IT! were installed along the platform from which Trump was supposed to speak.

A Trump supporter who attended his event at Mar-a-Lago and who runs the Latino Republican Club of Palm Beach said in Spanish that it was important to clarify that the former president was not the one who made rude comments about Puerto Rico.

He's an actor. He tries to be funny and says a lot of stupid things. The man is stupid. He has no idea about Puerto Rico and doesn't know our culture. He screwed up. We need to forgive and let go, said Lydia Maldonado, who is Puerto Rican. Our economy needs a change. Enough of that.

The Allentown School District is closed ahead of Trump's visit to Pennsylvania on Tuesday. The district said in a statement that schools will be closed out of an abundance of caution as the gathering is expected to attract large crowds, heavy traffic and potential disruptions that could impact the safety and security of our students and staff .

Trump is scheduled to speak at the PPL Center in downtown Allentown at 7 p.m. ET.

Harris will deliver her campaign's closing speech from the same location in Washington where Trump helped incite a mob to attack the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Harris' speech from the grassy Ellipse near the White House on Tuesday is designed to encourage Americans to visualize their alternative future if she or Trump takes back the Oval Office in less than three months.

Harris, who spent years working as a prosecutor, spent her presidential campaign explaining to voters why she should be elected, a senior official said Tuesday.

Cedric Richmond says that over the past three months, Harris has made her opening statement and presented evidence and facts to voters.

On Tuesday, she will deliver a speech intended to sum it all up.

Shell will make its final argument directly to the American people or to the jury and it will decide the outcome of this election, he said. And that's how it should be.

Richmond says the speech will focus on the clear choice voters face in this election, between Trump and his obsession with himself and his new generation of leaders focused on the American people.

Harris chose the area near the White House and Washington Monument to speak Tuesday because it serves as a reminder of the seriousness of the job, her campaign chairwoman said.

Campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon says the location where Donald Trump helped incite a violent mob on Jan. 6, 2021, is a visual reminder of everything a president can do, for better or worse. worse.

It's a vivid visualization of probably the most infamous example of Donald Trump and how he misused his power, she said.

But Harris won't spend much time rehashing the violence of that day or recounting Trump's continuing efforts to lie about the election and sow doubt about the vote. OMalley Dillon says Harris will focus on what her generation of leadership really means and how well it will work to shape the country and positively impact people's lives.

Harris will do five interviews Tuesday, including one with a Spanish-language radio station in Pennsylvania aimed at Latino voters, particularly Puerto Ricans.

The interviews come after a comedian at Donald Trump's rally on Sunday made racist and vile jokes that singled out Puerto Ricans among other groups. Trump did not denounce the racist jokes. But he said he didn't know the comedian who performed a concert there before the Republican candidate took the stage.

Harris also conducts interviews in Detroit, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. That's before she gives a speech in Washington later Tuesday, where she will present her final findings.

Trump said he didn't know the comedian who made racist and vile jokes during his big rally at Madison Square Garden. But he doesn't denounce these comments either.

I don't know it, someone put it up there. I don't know who he is, Trump told ABC News on Tuesday in an interview ahead of his remarks at Mar-a-Lago, according to the network.

The comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe, told a series of raunchy and crude jokes, including calling Puerto Rico an island of floating garbage.

These comments sparked outrage among Puerto Rican leaders just a week before the election.

In the interview, Trump also insisted that he had not heard Hinchcliffe's comments, according to ABC. But when asked what he thought about them, he did not take the opportunity to denounce them, repeating that he had not heard the comments.
