Tim Shipman also reveals that the Partygate scandal, which ultimately led to Boris Johnson's downfall, was allegedly started by his former trust adviser Dominic Cummings. He allegedly released a compromising video recording with communications director Allegra Stratton, who joked about breaking anti-Covid rules at Downing Street.

Tension between Cummings and Johnson came to a head a day before the advisor's dismissal in 2020. In a direct confrontation, when Johnson asked if he was being threatened, Cummings reportedly responded directly: Yes, then you say damn it!.
