Imran Khan calls for release of CCTV footage

Aleema Khan quoted Imran as saying that without CCTV footage, investigations into tragic incidents cannot be carried out.

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has demanded a judicial inquiry into the events of May 9 and November 26, urging the Supreme Court to release CCTV footage of the two incidents to facilitate proper investigations, his sister Aleema Khan cited him after meeting him on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media outside the Adiala jail, Aleema highlighted that her brother had demanded that the Supreme Court take action regarding the two incidents. She said: “The PTI founder made it clear that without the CCTV footage, no investigation into these tragic events could be conducted. »

Regarding the May 9 incident, she stressed that Imran Khan was not aware of the extent of the violence.

“He does not know how many people were martyred or injured at D-Chowk. He also does not know how many people are still missing. More than 200 PTI workers are missing and it is feared that they have also been martyred,” she said.

Aleema added that the PTI leadership remains deeply concerned about the disappearance of the workers. “The PTI founder is particularly worried about the missing people,” she explained.

In her statement, she also confirmed that the PTI would observe December 15 as Youm-e-Shuhada (Martyrs' Day). “On this day, PTI workers across the world, including Peshawar, will come together to pray in honor of those who sacrificed their lives,” she said.

Additionally, Aleema relayed a message from her brother on her political stance: “Imran Khan has always said that while a system of disbelief can continue, a system of oppression cannot continue. We will not accept this current system.

She noted that demands for a judicial commission to probe the May 9 and November 26 incidents have now been incorporated into the PTI's broader political agenda.

Aleema quoted Imran as saying that he had requested that a committee, comprising three senior judges of the Supreme Court, be formed to conduct the investigations, which cannot proceed without the CCTV footage.

The party founder also called for the immediate release of PTI workers detained following the incidents, stressing that the “illegal proceedings” against them should be dropped.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan, in his written reply in the 190 million case, claimed that during his tenure, a corruption case was filed against Maryam Nawaz and in order to appease her, a false case had been initiated against his wife Bushra Bibi.
