Trump chooses Kimberly Guilfoyle and Tom Barrack as ambassadors to Greece and Turkey

President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will name former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle and her longtime billionaire friend Tom Barrack as ambassadors to Greece and Turkey, respectively.

Trump made the announcements in two social media posts.

“For three decades, Tom successfully led a global private equity firm,” Trump wrote of Barrack on Truth Social. “He is a highly respected and experienced voice of reason to a wide range of thought leaders in political and business circles.”

Barrack, who founded the private equity firm Colony Capital and chaired Trump's inaugural committee in 2017, was acquitted in 2022 of charges that he acted as an unregistered foreign agent for the United Arab Emirates under the Trump administration and then made false statements to the FBI.

In another post announcing her selection as ambassador to Greece, Trump referred to Guilfoyle, who announced in 2022 that she was engaged to her son Donald Trump Jr., as a close friend and longtime ally.

“Kimberly is perfectly positioned to foster a strong bilateral relationship with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation,” Trump wrote.

Both positions require Senate confirmation. Guilfoyle said Tuesday she hopes to get that support.

“As ambassador, I look forward to implementing Trump's agenda, supporting our Greek allies, and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity,” Guilfoyle wrote on X.

Trump also named Ronald Johnson, a non-senator, ambassador to Mexico on Tuesday.

“Ron will work closely with our great nominee for Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to promote the security and prosperity of our nations through strong, America First foreign policies,” Trump said on TruthSocial.

Johnson served as ambassador to El Salvador during the first Trump administration, from 2019 to 2021.

Prior to this role, he was the CIA science and technology liaison to U.S. Special Operations Command and served in the Army and Alabama National Guard.

Last month, Trump announced that he would nominate Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, to serve as ambassador to France in his new administration.

He also named Massad Boulous, whose son is married to Trump's younger daughter, Tiffany Trump, as senior adviser for Arab and Middle East affairs.
