Jokowi's political communication with Golkar to become a member is not yet visible
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Golkar Party Secretary Sarmuji said that there was no political communication between the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), and his party regarding joining the party with the symbol banyan tree.
This was conveyed by Sarmuji in the dialogue Greet Indonesia Morning Kompas TV on the theme “Profits and losses of political parties fighting for Jokowi after leaving PDIP”, Thursday (12/12/2024).
“So far, Pak Jokowi's political communication with the Golkar Party to become a member has not been really visible,” he said.
“But whether political communication is maintained or not, until now political communication between Pak Jokowi and the Golkar Party has been maintained very well,” he continued.

Sarmuji said good political communication between the Golkar Party and Jokowi has been going on for a long time. Recalling that Golkar Party General Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia and former General Chairman Airlangga Hartarto were once ministers in the Indonesian Advanced Cabinet of the Jokowi government.
“If Mr. Jokowi has had good political communication with Golkar, it has been going on for a long time and our president general also happens to be a member of Mr. Jokowi's cabinet, who is also quite close to Mr. Jokowi,” Sarmuji said.
“So for us, there is no obstacle if Pak Jokowi joins the Golkar Party,” he continued.
When confirmed whether the Golkar Party had asked Jokowi to join, he said his party respected the former Jakarta governor's political choice.
“We respect Pak Jokowi's political choices, we also suspect that Pak Jokowi thinks about a lot of things before making his political choice about which party to join, so in this case we do not want to interfere quote unquote in Pak's freedom Jokowi to know where he wants to go,” Sarmuji said.

“We will certainly welcome the question of whether Pak Jokowi makes a political choice with the Golkar Party,” he continued.
Because, Sarmuji said, the Golkar Party had long invited Jokowi to join it.
“Of course, we are consistent with what I said previously. “We used to say, Pak Jokowi, if it is hot elsewhere, the banyan tree, the air is cool, the branches are shaded, is suitable as a place to anchor people who think it’s hot elsewhere,” he said.
“But what is his position, of course we will think about what is appropriate for a character like Mr. Jokowi, we cannot speculate yet, because Mr. Jokowi himself has not yet decided on his political choice” , he continued.
