Sandiaga asks Jokowi for advice on getting PPP back into parliament

Solo: Sandiaga Uno, PPP politician and former Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, discussed with the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, advice for the PPP to return to Senayan. Sandi said this after meeting Jokowi at his private residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, Thursday, December 12, 2024.

“Pak Jokowi is a father belonging to everyone. So if the PPP continues to receive his leadership, that would be very good. Especially transforming into a party closer to the community, paying more attention to the well-being of the community and to the community’s economy,” he said.
Previously, United Development Party (PPP) Acting General Chairman Muhamad Mardiono said his party was ready to welcome Indonesia's seventh president Joko Widodo, who was dismissed from the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP). However, he recalled that the PPP is a party of cadres.
“The PPP is a party of cadres, it is also an open party, (so) it does not exclude anyone from joining the PPP,” said Mardiono in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
According to Mardiono, all conditions and mechanisms for becoming a PPP executive are regulated in the party statutes (AD/ART). However, his party is not closed if national figures wish to join the PPP, including Jokowi.
“But of course it has to go through the basic budgetary mechanism of the statutes belonging to the United Development Party,” he said.
