Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto joked apologizing to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, for taking on the role of inaugurating the Silaturahim Tunnel that connects the Istiqlal Mosque and the church cathedral.
In his speech, President Prabowo said that it should be Joko Widodo or better known as Jokowi who inaugurated the Silaturahim Tunnel because the construction was completed in 2021.
“Actually, it should have been inaugurated by Mr. Joko Widodo, yes, I was just able to enjoy it. Many people work, this is called destiny. Is it possible that Mr. Jokowi is watching that, Mr. Jokowi apologizes, I'm the one who inaugurated it,” Prabowo said in his speech to inaugurate the Silaturahim Tunnel, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Prabowo explained that the Silaturahim tunnel is a symbol of harmony between religious communities.
In his speech, the President emphasized that what makes the Indonesian nation unique and proud is that it is full of differences.
Therefore, the President appreciates all parties who achieved this symbol of harmony with the construction of the Silaturahim Tunnel.
This tunnel is called Silaturahim tunnel because it is designed to facilitate visitors to the two places of worship, the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church, so that they can connect easily.
The construction of the Silaturahim Tunnel was actually completed on September 20, 2021. However, access to the general public has not yet been opened as there is still additional work to be completed, especially regarding the artistic decoration of the walls .
