New Delhi: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone for the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Bihar parties, transcending political lines, now want the Center to develop Sitamarhi, supposedly the birthplace of Sita, under the name Janaki Janmabhoomi.

The leader is the ruling JD (U), a BJP ally who wrote to PM Modi, urging him to start working on this. The party is also preparing to raise the issue during the monsoon session of parliament.

If Sita’s birthplace in Sitamarhi is developed as Ayodhya, it can contribute a lot to India’s economic prosperity and tourism industry, Sunil Kumar Pintu, JD (U) MP for Sitamarhi told ThePrint.

We also wrote a letter to the PM on this matter. All organizations have also looked for time to meet Prime Minister Modi in this context during the next parliamentary session, added Pintu.

Not to be outdone, with the approach of the elections to the Assembly, the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) joined the chorus.

Sri Ram cannot be imagined without Mata Sita, Manoj Kumar Jha, RJD MP Rajya Sabha, told ThePrint.

Before the 1980s, slogans such as Jai Siya Ram and Sita Ram were prevalent throughout northern India. From Jai Siya Ram to Jai Shri Ram, somewhere that Sitaji lost on this trip, he added. This is why our party said that a temple dedicated to Sitaji should be built in Sitamarhi and that it should be as big as the Ram temple in Ayodhya. I will certainly raise this issue in Parliament.
