EC Welcomes President Xi's Visit to Macau for Macau's 25th Anniversary Celebration – Macau SAR Government Portal
Chief Executive Mr. Ho Iat Seng today extended a warm welcome to President Xi Jinping ahead of his upcoming visit to Macau and expressed sincere gratitude to the Central Government for its support to Macau.
President Xi will visit Macao from December 18 to 20 and attend the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and the inauguration ceremony of the sixth-term government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
Mr. Ho pointed out that under the leadership and care of President Xi, Macao has promoted the implementation of the principle of “One country, two systems”, with the Macau people governing Macao and the city enjoying a high degree of autonomy, which translated into social stability and economic prosperity.
The chief executive noted that President Xi's visit not only demonstrated the great importance the central government attached to Macao, but also showed its true affection for Macao.
At this historic moment of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, and the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Macao has actively seize opportunities linked to national development. Macau has also devoted additional efforts to: deepening appropriate economic diversification, strengthening its role as part of the strategic positioning of a center, a platform, a base; further promote the Guangdong-Macao Hengqin Intensive Cooperation Zone and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; accelerate integration into the national development landscape; and contribute to Macao's strength to advance the development of China's path to modernization.
