PTI must respect Imran Khan's civil disobedience orders: Gandapur

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Sunday said the PTI would continue implementing civil disobedience based on the behind-bars orders of party founder Imran Khan in the same spirit, but he did not There is so far no clarity on this.

Imran lamented in a post on his X account on December 5 that party supporters had died due to state terrorism during his latest call for nationwide protests on November 24, demanding the restoration of the electoral mandate of PTI, release of detained party members and annul the 26th Amendment.

After clashes between security forces and PTI protesters in Islamabad, the party leadership hastily withdrew from the red zone on November 27. The three-day protests killed six people, including a police officer and three Rangers who were struck by a speeding vehicle, officials said.

Imran announced the formation of a five-member team to negotiate with the government the release of political prisoners and the opening of a judicial investigation into the events of May 9 and November 26, while warning of a civil disobedience movement from December 14 if the demands were not met. He also criticized the PTI leadership for acting as if everything was fine on Thursday and reiterated his call for civil disobedience if the demands were not met by December 15.

KP CM Gandapur while addressing the media today in Peshawar said that the PTI founder made the announcement and whatever Khan's order, we have to implement it in the same spirit, but [] so far there is no clarity. He said the party was waiting for clear instructions on what needed to be done to launch the movement.

KP CM said: Once we get clarity, God willing, we will do it.

Speaking to Geo News, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif continued that the PTI did not have a uniform position on negotiations with the government; he said the party was unable to present an atmosphere that would lead to negotiations. The minister categorically said that the government has not made any statement on its discussions with the PTI.

All statements on the negotiations all come from the PTI, Asif said. There has been no government statement on the negotiations, nor any confirmation. He added that the PTI was exchanging statements among themselves and no one is showing a decisive party position.
