The PDI-P announces the dismissal of Jokowi, Gibran and Bobby: abuse of power and attack on democracy
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle or PDI Perjuangan announced the dismissal of the former President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, as well as his son and son-in-law, Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Bobby Nasution. The dismissal of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia is contained in Decree No. 1649/KPTS/DPP/XII/2024 which was stipulated on December 14, 2024 and signed by PDI-P General Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.
The PDI-P considers that Jokowi abused power and undermined democracy.

Jokowi was fired because he was considered to have violated the PDI-P statutes. Komarudin said Jokowi violated the AD/ART because he openly opposed the party's decision by not supporting the candidate pair Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in the 2024 presidential election.

Jokowi served as mayor of Surakarta for two terms with the support of the PDI-P in 2005 and 2010. Jokowi then became governor of Jakarta in 2012 and president of Indonesia in 2014 and 2019.
