Ambassador MajinthaJayesinghe Presents Credentials to President Xi Jinping

On 12 December 2024, Ambassador MajinthaJayesinghe presented his credentials to President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka. The ambassador was accompanied by embassy counselor Niranga Palipana.
While presenting the credentials, Ambassador MajinthaJayesinghe conveyed the greetings of President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the people of Sri Lanka to President Xi Jinping. President Xi returned his greetings to the President and people of Sri Lanka.
Addressing the envoys who presented their credentials, President Xi Jinping expressed hope that the envoys would actively promote exchanges, strengthen cooperation and work to strengthen friendly ties with China. President Xi reiterated that China is willing to share its expertise and development opportunities with other countries and promote the modernization of all countries on the basis of peaceful development, mutually beneficial cooperation and 'common prosperity.
Ambassador MajinthaJayesinghe joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 1998 and previously served as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Austria. During his service in Austria, he served as permanent representative to United Nations entities in Austria and was also accredited as ambassador for the Slovak Republic, Republic of Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina before his appointment to the People's Republic. from China. During his career in the Foreign Service, Ambassador Jayesinghe served as Chief of Protocol, held various positions in the Ministry, at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing, and served as Consul General in Shanghai and Deputy High Commissioner in Malaysia.
