Emboldened by ABC settlement, Trump threatens to sue press

President-elect Donald Trump hadn't had much success suing media organizations until this weekend, when ABC News agreed to settle a closely watched defamation case he filed against the network for $16 million dollars.

Now, Trump is expanding his threats of legal action against the media as he prepares to return to the White House, saying he wants to straighten out the press.

On Monday, Trump said he had a new target: the Des-Moines Register newspaper, which he said he plans to sue today or tomorrow over its latest poll of Iowa voters that he showed that he lost the November election to Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump made the comments during a wide-ranging news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where he said he would take legal action against the popular Iowa newspaper because he believed that the poll was fraud and election interference.

The final poll of records before Election Day, conducted by legendary pollster J. Ann Selzer, showed Harris leading Trump 47 to 44 percent among the state's likely voters, an explosive result sparking a wave of media coverage that Harris could potentially pull off an upset in a state that Trump won in 2016 and 2020.
