Joko Widodo and his family expelled from the PDI-P
(MENAFN) Former Indonesian leader Joko Widodo, his son Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and his son-in-law Bobby Nasution were officially expelled from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) on Monday, following a dispute over 'one year. which began before the presidential election.
PDI-P President Megawati Soekarnoputri signed their dismissal letters on December 1. 14, according to party insiders.
“As of the signing of the dismissal letter, the PDI-P Central Committee does not take any responsibility for the actions taken by Joko Widodo,” said Komaruddin Watubun, head of the PDI-P Honorary Council.
Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, had enjoyed the support of the PDI-P throughout his political career, but distanced himself from the party after Gibran joined rival candidate Prabowo Subiantos in October.
Despite Jokowi serving two presidential terms with the support of the PDI-P, his decision to support Prabowo Subianto angered party leaders. To further complicate matters, Gibran and Bobby aligned themselves with Prabowos' Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).
Bobby Nasution is currently contesting the North Sumatra gubernatorial election against the PDI-P candidate.
Alongside Jokowi and his family members, 27 other PDI-P officials were also fired from the party.
