Gandapur laments lack of access to Imran in prison

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said he was awaiting instructions from PTI founder Imran Khan regarding a civil disobedience movement. He also criticized his denial of access to meet Imran Khan at Adiala Prison, saying that as a representative of the province he did not need “permission”.

Gandapur issued the statement after appearing before the Peshawar High Court, which extended his protection till January 16, ordering the authorities not to arrest him in any recorded case.

The court also issued a notice to the National Accountability Bureau regarding the details of the cases registered against the chief minister. A two-member bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Waqar Ahmed heard the petitions regarding protective bail and details of the cases. Lawyers Alam Khan Adeenzai and Ali Zaman represented the petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General Hazrat Syed appeared on behalf of the federation and public prosecutor Hashmat Jahangir represented the NAB.

The petitioner's lawyer informed the court that Ali Amin Gandapur had sought details of the cases registered against him, particularly those filed after the protests at D Chowk. “Gandapur wishes to appear before the relevant courts, but details of these cases have not been provided.”
