President Xi Jinping arrived in Macau
President Xi Jinping arrived at the airport aboard an Air China plane shortly after 4 p.m. today, kicking off his three-day visit to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Macau SAR.
The president and his wife, Peng Liyuan, were greeted by a large crowd of schoolchildren holding flowers and flags, and were greeted by outgoing Chief Executive (CE) Ho Iat Seng and his wife, Cheng Soo Ching, the new EC Sam Hou Fai, the first EC of the SAR, Edmund Ho, and other senior officials representing the SAR and the central government.
The President delivered some brief remarks from the tarmac, emphasizing that he was always happy to visit Macau. “I would like to see the new changes and developments in Macau over the past two years,” he said.
