Modi and King Charles reaffirm India-UK relations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British King Charles III spoke over the phone on Wednesday (December 18, 2024), according to the government, reaffirming the India-UK partnership and exchanging Christmas and New Year greetings.

Recalling the historical relations between the two countries, they both reaffirmed [their] commitment to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the United Kingdom, the government statement said.

The two men exchanged views on the Commonwealth and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa, which was held in October. Mr Modi did not attend the meeting.

During Wednesday's (December 18, 2024) call, Mr. Modi and King Charles also discussed climate action and sustainability, areas in which the British monarch has been active for several decades.
