PM Modi to visit Kuwait live: Indian diaspora in Kuwait awaits PM Modi's historic visit
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kuwait on December 21-22, the Indian diaspora expressed their enthusiasm and highlighted Prime Minister Modi's ties within the community.
Ahead of Prime Minister Modi's visit, Rajpal Tyagi, a member of the Indian diaspora community in Kuwait and Pravasi Bharati Award winner, speaking to ANI, said, “Prime Minister Modi is in our hearts and we we've been waiting for him to come here for a long time. “After 43 years, an Indian Prime Minister is visiting Kuwait.”
He added, “In 2019, I received the Pravasi Bharati Award and the Prime Minister organized a lunch for us. During that lunch, I asked him if he had visited all the Gulf countries and when would he return to Kuwait He promised he would come… Today, this dream comes true.
Kuwaiti singer Mubarak Al Rashed also sang the song “Vaishnav Jan to”. He said he would sing this song in front of Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Kuwait.
Pravin, a member of the Indian diaspora community in Kuwait, said the Indian community is happy to see PM Modi. Speaking to ANI, he said, “…The entire diaspora is delighted to see him (PM Modi). All the organizations here are organizing cultural programs to welcome PM Modi. The preparations started two years ago weeks.”
Earlier today, preparations were underway for Prime Minister Modi's 'Hala Modi' community event to be held tomorrow at the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Sports Complex in Kuwait.
Rehearsals for the 'Hala Modi' event were also underway in Kuwait, ahead of Prime Minister Modi's visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kuwait on December 21-22. The foreign ministry says this will be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Kuwait in 43 years.
Notably, at the invitation of the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Prime Minister Modi, during his visit to Kuwait, will interact with the Indian diaspora at the community event and will also visit a work camp. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as a special guest of the Emir of Kuwait.
Addressing the special briefing on Prime Minister's visit to Kuwait, Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs (CPV and OIA), Arun Kumar Chatterjee gave a brief background on Prime Minister Modi's visit and highlighted the strong relations between the two countries, declaring “excellent political relations between the two countries.”
“This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years and is therefore of considerable significance,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi will receive a ceremonial guard of honor at the Bayan Palace (the main palace of the Emir of Kuwait), following which he will hold separate meetings with the Emir of Kuwait and the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah. There will then be delegation-level talks with the Prime Minister of Kuwait,” he added.
