JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo responds to the status of the corruption suspect of the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto.
As for Jokowi is a former PDIP executive. He was fired on December 4, 2024 because he allegedly violated the party's code of ethics and did not support the candidate presented by the PDIP in the 2024 presidential election.
According to Jokowi, all parties must respect the ongoing process at the KPK.
“Respect all existing legal procedures,” Jokowi said in Solo, quoted by Tribunnews.com, Wednesday (12/25/2024).

On the same day, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka also responded to Hasto's status as a corruption suspect. He stressed that Hasto's suspicions had nothing to do with him.
Jokowi's first son asked the media to question the KPK on this issue.
“Why do I ask?” Ask the Corruption Eradication Commission, it has nothing to do with me, it has nothing to do with this,” Gibran said after reviewing the Christmas celebration at the GBI Family of Allah in Solo, Central Java, Wednesday.
Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Secretary General (Sekjen) Hasto as a suspect for paying bribes to former General Election Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan .

KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said the bribe was carried out with PDI-P 2019 legislative candidate (Caleg) Harun Masiku, who is currently on the wanted list (DPO).
“The Corruption Eradication Commission issued an investigation order number Sprin.Dik/153/DIK/00/01/12/2024 dated December 23, 2024 with a description of the investigation into the criminal act alleged corruption committed by suspect Hasto Kristiyanto with Harun Masiku and his friends in the form of “giving a gift or promise to Wahyu Setiawan”, Setyo told the Red Building and white from the KPK, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/24/2024).
Setyo said the bribe was paid so that Harun Masiku could become a member of the DPR RI for Interim Replacement (PAW) of the South Sumatra Constituency (Sumsel), replacing the deceased Nazaruddin Kiemas.

However, the operation did not go smoothly because the legislative candidate who came in second place, Riezky Aprilia, refused to give up his seat and did not want to resign.
Hasto then controlled his subordinates, Saeful Bahri and DTI to bribe Wahyu Setiawan and Agustina Tio Fridelina as members of the Election Monitoring Body (Bawaslu).
“(The bribes) amounted to S$19,000 and S$38,350 between December 16, 2019 and December 23, 2019 so that brother Harun Masiku could be appointed as a member of the DPR RI for the period 2019-2024 in Electoral District I South Sumatra,” said Setyo.

Besides Jokowi, Gibran was also fired by the PDIP. The reasons are almost the same. Both do not support the duo of presidential and vice-presidential candidates promoted by the PDIP.
Jokowi's dismissal was announced in Decree (SK) Number 1649/KPTS/DPP/XII/2024 which was stipulated on December 14, 2024 and signed by PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and Hasto as general secretary.

Meanwhile, Gibran's dismissal is stated in Decree Number 1650/KPTS/DPP/XII/2024, issued on December 4, 2024.
A few days after the dismissal, Hasto was announced as a corruption suspect by the KPK.
