Jokowi: Determining Hasto as a KPK suspect is a legal procedure
Solo (ANTARA) – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) considers the determination of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto as suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as a legal procedure that deserves respect.
“Yes, respect all existing legal procedures,” he said in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday.
Asked about his name, which was still mentioned following the determination of suspect status, he smiled.
“Hehee…he’s retired, he’s retired,” he said.
Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission named PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto (HK) as a suspect in the corruption case Harun Masiku against General Election Commission (KPU) Commissioner, Wahyu Setiawan.
“Investigators found evidence of the involvement of the Hong Kong brother in question as secretary general of PDIP Perjuangan,” said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at the KPK Red and White Building, South Jakarta (24/12).
Setyo revealed that Hasto played an active role in the corruption case to win Harun Masiku as a member of the DPR RI.
“Brother HK made efforts to convince his brother HM (Harun Masiku) through several efforts,” he said.
The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission also revealed that the determination of Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect was made based on the exposure process or the title of the case and was declared sufficient to pass at the investigation stage and named as a suspect.
