Jokowi's response to Hasto being a suspect in the Harun Masiku corruption case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, responded to PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who was named a suspect in the Harun Masiku corruption case. Jokowi respects the ongoing legal process.
When asked if his name was still involved in the case, Jokowi responded casually. He stressed that he had retired from office.
Previously, the Corruption Eradication Committee named Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect for alleged corruption and obstructing the investigation of the Harun Masiku case.
General Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar responded to the perception that there was politicization of the law in determining the suspect against PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.
Muhaimin believes that no party dares to do this. Muhaimin admitted that he was shocked and concerned about Hasto's legal status.
Previously, the PDIP considered the KPK's nomination of Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect to be politicization of the law and criminalization.
This cannot be separated from Hasto's critical attitude since the PDIP clashed with former President Joko Widodo.
Regarding the KPK's nomination of Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect in the alleged corruption case against former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and obstruction of investigations, the PDIP emphasized that it will comply with the applicable legal procedure.
