Hasto talks about wanting 3 terms, Silfester: should focus on legal process

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto opened his voice after being named a suspect for corruption and alleged obstruction Harun Masiku. Silfester said Jokowi was no longer president and could not intervene. He said the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) also denied any political interference behind the naming of Hasto and PDIP legal team Donny Tri Istiqomah as suspects.

“During his 10-year term, Pak Jokowi never met the KPK leadership, how could he influence and intervene within the KPK? Moreover, now Pak Jokowi has retired and no longer has any power. The KPK itself also denied that there was political interference behind “the appointment of Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah (PDIP legal team)”, he demanded.

Silfester said the issue of 3 terms was also refused by DPP PDIP Chairman Puan Maharani in early 2023. He said at that time Puan rejected Jokowi's request to extend his term to 3 mandates.

“And in fact, the issue of 3 terms and extension of the president's term was denied by Mbak Puan who said that Pak Jokowi never asked for an extension of 3 terms. This was said by Mbak Puan at the High End Building, Central Jakarta. , January 25, 2023,” he explained.

According to Silfester, Hasto deserves to be named as a suspect since the KPK has collected a lot of evidence. He thinks Hasto is Jokowi's scapegoat.

“And if you look at the KPK's statement, it is appropriate that Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah were named as suspects and banned for 2 cases, namely corruption and obstruction of justice, especially since he There is already a lot of evidence,” he says.

“So the fact that Hasto has designated Pak Jokowi as a scapegoat is just a diversion of rumors and lies as if it was Hasto in Zolimi, even if, in addition to sufficient evidence, there is also someone close to Hasto, namely Saiful Bahri, who was convicted and went to jail and is even now free from jail,” he added.

Previously, Hasto appeared in public via video recording for the first time after being named as a suspect. Mentioning the one who wants three terms, he said he was willing to take the risk.

According to the video he distributed to reporters on Thursday (12/26/2024), Hasto was seen speaking while holding the book “Bung Karno: Connecting the Language of the Indonesian People” by Cindy Adams.

Hasto reviewed Bung Karno's attitude that prison was a way of sacrificing oneself to fight for noble ideals. Bung Karno's attitude was guided by PDIP cadres. The PDIP cadres were not afraid to face a personality in their party who wanted to serve three terms and, in the end, this personality was dismissed from the party.

He then spoke of intimidation by law enforcement. The PDIP is prepared to face intimidation which it describes as a thick wall of power.

“That’s why we will never give up,” Hasto said.

The PDIP is prepared to face the worst risks, both formal and informal. For Hasto, going to prison is not a problem.

“Because, like Bung Karno did, going to prison is part of sacrificing one's ideals,” he said.
