Apparently referring to statements by President-elect Trump's aide and other US lawmakers, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari questioned why those who conspired against Pakistan are raising the votes in favor of PTI founder Imran Khan.

He made the remarks on Friday while addressing the public gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the occasion of the 17th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Stressing the need to take decisions through consensus, the PPP chairman said the PML-N-led government does not have the mandate to take unilateral decisions.

Addressing the event, Bilawal paid rich tribute to his mother and the assassinated former prime minister, saying his 30 years of political struggle had become part of history.

He said Benazir never compromised on ideology, adding that she was the representative of vulnerable segments of society.

An international conspiracy is being hatched against Pakistan, he said, adding that they could confront these nefarious designs through unity and political stability.

The PPP leader urged all political forces to put aside their differences for the good of the country.

Referring to recent US sanctions against Pakistan's missile program, Bilawal said: They want no Muslim country to have nuclear energy.

Last week, the United States imposed additional sanctions related to Pakistan's ballistic missile program, targeting four entities. Islamabad, however, called the decision “biased”, stressing that the US decision had “dangerous implications for the strategic stability of our region and beyond”.
