PAC chairmanship decision is mine, not Shehbaz Sharif: Imran Khan

While entrusting the final decision on the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) solely to himself, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated Sheikh Waqas Akram as the sole candidate of the left for this position.

In a decisive stance, Khan stressed that the final decision on the PAC presidency rests solely with him, rejecting any influence from government officials.

Sources revealed that Khan had expressed his displeasure with the PTI leadership over the handling of the PAC chairmanship nomination, asserting his authority in the matter.

“The decision on who will chair the PTI PAC will be up to me, and not to Shehbaz Sharif or any other government official,” Khan was quoted as saying. “My first, second, third and even fourth choice for PAC presidency is Sheikh Waqas Akram.”

Khan further hinted at the possibility of resigning from the chairmanship of other standing committees if the PAC chairmanship is not given to the PTI.

The development follows repeated correspondence from PML-N chief whip Tariq Fazal Chaudhry asking the PTI to submit a panel of four names for the PAC chairmanship. Despite demands, the PTI remained committed to appointing only Sheikh Waqas Akram.

The PTI said it would formally submit its final response next week, maintaining Akram as its unwavering candidate.
