China expands 200 detention centers for Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign
Beijing [China]December 28: China has expanded more than 200 specialized detention centers across the country to question suspects caught in President Xi Jinping's broader anti-corruption campaign, CNN reported Saturday.
The move is part of Xi's efforts to expand his crackdown beyond the ruling Communist Party and to various public sectors.
Since becoming president in 2012, Xi has launched a campaign to fight corruption and eliminate political rivals, consolidating his control over the party and the military. As he enters his third term, this anti-corruption campaign has become a permanent part of his open-ended term, according to CNN.
