Nagpur: A man, who was beaten up by a goon, was threatened with dire consequences by the latter inside the Wani police station in Yavatmal. The victim, Imran Khan, now fearing for his life, had gone to seek updates on his case registered against Jamir Khan alias Jammu and his gang a week ago. Imran was stunned as no police personnel came to his rescue and did not register his complaint, sources said. The Wani police had arrested Jamir and his gang for assault and rioting, but none were arrested. Imran fractured his hand after he was attacked by Jamir and his gang on December 18 in Mominpura following a monetary dispute between them. It was learned that Imran was reluctant to accept a packet of Rs 500 notes from Jamir against bricks provided to him as he doubted its authenticity. Imran started following his case and was also threatened by Jamir and his gang. Sources said the police booked the gang for running a cricket betting racket in the past. On Thursday, Imran again went to the police station to ask for news. “I was followed by Jamir and his aides to the police station. They threatened to cause more harm if I did not stop pursuing the case. I was appalled as they attacked me. threatened in the presence of police officers and none intervened or took action,” Imran told TOI.
