Imran Khan rejects DG ISPR statement, blames Bajwa for Taliban strategy

RAWALPINDI: Former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan rejected DG ISPR's statement and said former army chief Bajwa had strategized for talks with the Taliban.

This was revealed by lawyer Faisal Chaudhry while speaking to the media outside Adiala jail after meeting Imran Khan.

Earlier, a six-member legal team met Imran Khan. Faisal Chaudhry said that a series of cases are pending against Imran Khan, all of which are politically motivated and contain no truth. He added that the prosecution of its leaders and workers is entirely political.

Faisal Chaudhry revealed that Imran Khan reiterated his demand for the formation of a judicial commission to probe the May 9 incident and the November 26 protest. He also indicated that 21 detainees from his party were released on bail.

According to Faisal Chaudhry, Imran Khan said that ISPR's position is wrong, the strategy regarding Taliban was initiated by Bajwa. He stressed that the Afghan issue would be resolved through talks, as talks are an effective method. However, he criticized the involvement in the bombings as well as the process of sending special delegations to Kabul.

Chaudhry also criticized the sentences handed down by military courts, calling them controversial and lacking transparency. He stressed the need to protect Pakistan's constitution and respect human rights, stressing that he wanted justice, not concessions, in the talks.

Faisal announced the deadline of January 31 to assess the government's seriousness in addressing these issues.

He said Imran Khan had demanded immediate resolution of the Parachinar issue and the law enforcement agencies were actively working on it.

He warned that the problem extends to Sindh and Balochistan and should be resolved on humanitarian grounds. He also condemned the actions of the Sindh government.

Faisal Chaudhry added that he would participate in the talks on the 2nd of the month and made it clear that he had withdrawn from the demands of repealing the 26th Amendment and tackling electoral mandate theft. He criticized the government for its fear-based rule, highlighting the damage it is causing to the country, its economy and its citizens.
