India welcomed the new year with vibrant celebrations across the country, as people gathered in different cities to enthusiastically mark the joyous occasion. The festivities included parties, cultural events, live music and festive decorations. In Delhi, popular places like Hauz Khas, Connaught Place and Lajpat Nagar saw large crowds, with strict security measures in place.
In Amritsar, locals celebrated at the Golden Temple, while hotels in various cities organized special events. In Bhopal, people danced in the streets and similar celebrations took place in Lucknow as the clock struck midnight.
Fireworks lit up the skies in many cities, including Mumbai, where beaches like Juhu, Chowpatty and Versova were teeming with revelers. Marine Drive has also become a hot spot for enjoying the exhibitions. In Himachal Pradesh's Manali, tourists and locals danced in the streets, while West Bengal saw people partying with the lights of their mobile phones. Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala was lit up with fireworks and in Visakhapatnam people were cutting cakes to mark the new year. In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, drumming music took over the streets, while Chennai saw massive crowds celebrating the start of 2025.
