PM Modi to inaugurate several development projects in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a slew of development measures on Friday, January 3, 2025, including 1,675 apartments for residents of JJ clusters and two urban redevelopment projects in the city.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement that Prime Minister Modi would visit the newly constructed apartments for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) areas under the Swabhiman Apartments slum rehabilitation project in Ashok Vihar in Delhi and would hand over the keys to the eligible beneficiaries.
It will inaugurate 1,675 newly built apartments, the Prime Minister's Office said, adding that this project is in line with the Prime Minister's “Housing for All” initiative.
The objective of the project is to provide residents of JJ clusters in Delhi with a better and healthier living environment with appropriate amenities and facilities.
For every 25 lakh spent on construction of an apartment by the central government, eligible beneficiaries pay less than seven percent of the total amount, including 1.42 lakh as nominal contribution and 30,000 for five years of maintenance, he indicated.
The BJP-led government's developmental drive at the Center comes ahead of the Assembly elections expected to be held in Delhi in February.
The BJP is engaged in a bitter political clash with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in power in the city since 2013, and is doing everything possible to end its rule.
On Friday, PM Modi will also inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects: the World Trade Center (WTC) in Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type II Quarters in Sarojini Nagar.
The World Trade Centre, the statement said, has transformed the area by replacing over 600 dilapidated neighborhoods with state-of-the-art commercial towers, offering around 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space with advanced amenities.
The project integrates green building practices with provisions such as a zero discharge concept, solar power generation and rainwater harvesting systems.
GPRA Type II neighborhoods include 28 towers housing more than 2,500 residential units, offering modern amenities and efficient use of space.
The project design incorporates rainwater harvesting systems, wastewater and water treatment plants, and solar-powered trash compactors encouraging an eco-friendly lifestyle, the document said .
PM Modi will also inaugurate the CBSE Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka, built at around 300 crores. It includes, among other things, offices, an auditorium, an advanced data center and a comprehensive water management system.
The eco-friendly building has been constructed to high environmental standards and has been designed as per the Platinum Rating standards of the Indian Green Building Council, it said.
Among other initiatives, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of three new projects worth over $600 million at Delhi University.
It comprises an academic block at the eastern campus in Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi and an academic block at the western campus in Dwarka. This also includes construction of Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, equipped with state-of-the-art educational facilities, the release said.
