Toshakhana 2.0 case hearing adjourned to January 6

The hearing in the Toshakhana 2.0 case involving former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, former first lady Bushra Bibi, was delayed today due to the absence of his defense lawyer. Bushra Bibi.

The case, heard at Adiala Prison, could not proceed as planned due to the illness of Bushra Bibi's lawyer, Arshad Tabrez, who was unable to appear in court, reported ExpressNews.

As a result, the cross-examination of a key witness, Benjamin, could not be completed.

Special public prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi urged Imran Khan's lawyer Qausain Mufti to conduct the cross-examination.

However, Khan's lawyer insisted that the witness's cross-examination be completed by Bushra Bibi's lawyer before proceeding with his own.

The court, headed by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand, asked the lawyers to complete the cross-examination in the next hearing. The matter was adjourned until Monday January 6, 2025.

The court also warned that if the cross-examination was not completed at the next hearing, it would take disciplinary action.

In the last hearing, a list of 108 gifts received by former Prime Minister Imran Khan during his tenure was presented in the Toshakhana 2.0 case.

The case was heard by Justice Shahrukh Arjumand in a special court at Adiala jail.

Imran Khan appeared in court for the hearing, accompanied by his legal team, including Bushra Bibi, Salman Akram Raja, lawyer Gohar and Faisal Chaudhry.

A key witness from the Cabinet Division, representing the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), also testified in court. During the proceedings, the witness was cross-examined by Bushra Bibi's lawyer, Arshad Tabraiz.

The cross-examination is expected to continue in the next hearing, with Khan's lawyer Salman Safdar also expected to question the witness.

The prosecution submitted the list of 108 gifts received by Imran Khan during his tenure, which was officially recorded by the court along with a register of gifts.

The hearing was adjourned until January 2.
