Jokowi's comments regarding the Constitutional Court's decision to remove the threshold for presidential candidates

The 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which removed the threshold or presidential threshold a minimum of 20 percent of the seats in the House of Representatives or obtaining 25 percent of the valid national votes in the previous election as a condition for the appointment of the president and vice president. Jokowi said the Constitutional Court's decision was final and binding. Later, the decision of the Constitutional Court will be immediately followed by the DPR.
“This final and binding decision was made by the Constitutional Court. So it will be immediately followed by the legislators who make the law, namely the House of Representatives,” Jokowi said.

The decision was read by Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo regarding case 62/PUU-XXI/2023, at the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta, Thursday (2/1). The Constitutional Court granted all requests.
“Declaring the norm of Article 222 of Law No. 7 of 2017 regarding General Elections (Official Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia of 2017 No. 182, Supplement to the Official Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6109) is contrary to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and has no binding legal force,” Suhartoyo said Thursday (2/1) yesterday.
This lawsuit was filed by four students of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Jogja, namely Enika Maya Octavia, Rizki Maulana Syafei, Faisal Nasirul Haq and Tsalis Khoirul Fatna. They are members of the Community of Constitution Observers. The study project was also discussed with colleagues in the community.
