Jokowi listed as world's most corrupt figure, former leader asks KPK to be proactive and may request data from Hasto
Suara.com – Former Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the period 2007-2011, Mochammad Jasin, also highlighted the appointment of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), as the most corrupt figure in the world, based on research findings from the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).
According to him, the results of OCCRP's research must receive a positive response, especially from independent law enforcement agencies.
“This institution (OCCRP) is supported by Europe, Asia, Africa and America, of course I think it is quite credible,” said Jasin, quoted on the YouTube channel of 'Abraham Samad SPEAK UP, Friday (3/1/2025).
Jasin said there had been 700 cases involving global officials based on research findings from investigative journalism agency OCCRP. According to him, in 602 of the 700 cases there were defendants.

“Yes, that is who the accused was because he received a response from the law enforcement agencies of the country where the person responsible was named,” he said.
The former KPK commissioner stressed that the KPK must be proactive in responding to Jokowi's case as the most corrupt figure in the world. According to him, we should not make it a hot topic that will then be forgotten.
“Yes, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) needs to be proactive, especially since it coincides with the issue of data collected by Hasto and kept by Ms. Connie, well, it goes hand in hand in my opinion” , Jasin said.
Jasin explained that there are different penalties to enforce the law. He said it would be difficult if law enforcement dealt with general crimes directly under the government structure.
“This will pose a problem, the Corruption Eradication Committee must conduct an investigation by inviting or dealing with informants,” he explained.

Finally, Jasin reiterated that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) must act in handling the case of Jokowi's designation as the world's most corrupt figure according to the OCCRP.
