Trkiye foreign trade gap narrows from $106.3 billion to $82.2 billion year-on-year in 2024
Trkiye's exports reached a record $262 billion last year, up 2.5% on an annual basis, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Friday.
The country's foreign trade deficit, which stood at $106.3 billion in 2023, narrowed to $82.2 billion, he said at an event in Istanbul.
The coverage rate of exports and imports reached 76.1 percent in 2024, up 5.5 percentage points on an annual basis, Erdogan stressed.
In December alone, the country's exports increased by 2.2 percent to $23.5 billion, another record high, he added.
Regarding Trkiye's gross domestic product (GDP), Erdogan said the country's per capita income, which was $13,243 in 2023, is expected to exceed $15,000 in 2024 and exceed $17,000 in 2025.
He said Trkiye aims to achieve 4% growth in 2025 with the support of net exports and fixed capital investments.
Trkiye, with growth of 2.1% in the third quarter, recorded positive growth rates over the last 17 quarters, he recalled.
