Half-yearly reports requested from ministers

PESHAWAR:

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accountability committee has sought a half-yearly performance report from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa ministers.

All ministers have been instructed to submit the report to the anti-corruption adviser by January 30.

Likewise, the committee asked the provincial government for a four-month performance report.

A toolkit has been published for cabinet members. The committee asked the cabinet members to make the functioning of the departments transparent, corruption-free and public-friendly.

They were asked to prepare a full written response in accordance with the toolkit and submit it by January 30.

The ministers will submit reports from their respective departments to anti-corruption advisor Mosaddiq Abbasi.

The performance of cabinet members will be reviewed every six months according to the toolkit.

A performance index will be prepared and sent to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Founder President Imran Khan.

It may be recalled that last year, Imran Khan had constituted a committee to evaluate the performance of ministers after receiving complaints.

Six days ago, the Accounts Commission had summoned Social Welfare Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah for corruption.

Officials told The Express Tribune that Shah was summoned for abuse of power and alleged corruption.

This decision was taken after complaints were filed against him in his capacity as Minister of Health and Minister of Social Protection.

Six months ago, the health portfolio was taken away from Syed Qasim Ali Shah and the social welfare portfolio was given to him after the chief minister expressed displeasure over his performance.

The PTI accountability committee has three members, including Musaddiq Abbasi, Shah Farman and Qazi Anwar Advocate.

The committee will submit its report on Syed Qasim Ali Shah to the PTI founder.

It is worth mentioning here that a PTI lawmaker, Shakeel Khan, was earlier removed from the KP cabinet after he contacted Imran Khan and alleged widespread corruption in the provincial government.

After his dismissal from the cabinet, he had termed the 'Good Governance Committee' set up on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan as 'Bad Governance Committee'.

But Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandpaur claimed that the summary of Shakeel Khan's de-notification was sent on the recommendation of the committee.

Imran Khan was reportedly unhappy with the internal differences.
