Verdict in landmark 190m case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi set for January 13

The decision on the £190 million benchmark involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, has been postponed yet again.

An accountability court announced the new verdict date on January 13, citing the permission of Justice Nasir Javed Rana, Express News reported.

The court had scheduled the verdict for Monday, but his absence was reported to Imran Khan's legal advisor Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry by court staff.

The session, initially scheduled at Adiala jail, was shifted to NAB G-11 court due to logistical challenges in ensuring the presence of the accused.

In related news, hearings on 13 cases, including the GHQ attack and the May 9 incidents, were adjourned to January 8.

The absence of Justice Amjad Ali Shah due to training led to the adjournment, with all accused excused from appearing for the day.

What's the case for £190m?

The case alleges that Imran Khan and others were involved in an adjustment of 50 billion rupees, the equivalent of £190 million at the time, which was transferred by the National Crime Agency (NCA ) from the United Kingdom to the Pakistani government.

As Prime Minister, Khan obtained cabinet approval for this settlement on December 3, 2019, without disclosing confidential details of the agreement. The agreement provided that the funds would be submitted to the Supreme Court.

According to NAB officials, Khan and his wife were given land worth billions of rupees for the construction of an educational institution.
