PM Modi virtually inaugurates Cherlapalli railway terminal in Hyderabad, says to innovate at every step
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually inaugurated the Cherlapalli Railway Terminal, a state-of-the-art facility built with cutting-edge technology at Rs 413 crore, in Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy participated in the event virtually while Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were present.
The inauguration of the terminal was initially scheduled for December 28, 2024, but was postponed due to the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the government's commitment to improving connectivity across the country. He highlighted the expansion of the metro network to over 1,000 km and ongoing initiatives to improve connectivity in regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and Telangana.
A decade of railway transformation
Modi spoke of the significant progress made in railway infrastructure over the last decade. “We are innovating at every step, prioritizing rail infrastructure as well as modernization and convenience for passengers. The construction of new railways and underground bridges is progressing rapidly. High-speed trains like the Vande Bharat Express are operational and efforts to expand the electrification of the railway lines are underway, with 35% of the country already electrified. The Cherlapalli terminal will ease the pressure on the railway stations in Secunderabad and. of Kacheguda, thereby promoting smoother operations,” Modi said.
Telangana's Trillion Economic Vision
In his speech, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated Prime Minister Modi on the inauguration of the terminal and called for cooperation for construction of a dry port for the state, expansion of Metro Rail and the completion of the RRR (Regional Ring Road) project. He pointed out that Telangana could achieve a trillion dollar economy with the Centre's support.
