Jokowi checks the transformation of plastic waste into fuel in Banjarnegara

7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited Banjarnegara Waste Bank (BSB) in Kasilib village, Wanadadi, Banjarnegara. Jokowi supports the processing of plastic waste to encourage a circular economy.
Based on written information received on Tuesday (07/01/2025), Jokowi's visit to the Banjarnegara Waste Bank took place on Monday (06/01/2025). Jokowi saw the transformation of plastic waste into petasol fuel.
Jokowi excited by seeing the manufacturing process of a plastic waste processing machine for myself, as well as seeing the processing of plastic waste from plastic shredding to making petasol. Jokowi also witnessed the use of petasol for tractor engines in rice fields.

Jokowi asked about the price of petasol and its production capacity at the Banjarnegara Waste Bank. Jokowi then received an explanation from the support team of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Tri Martini.
During discussions with the BRIN research team and BSB President Budi, the former mayor of Solo gave a positive response, including saying that the correct and complete research file could be seen at the waste bank of Banjarnegara. Indeed, at BSB, there are people, researchers and downstream technologies who are precisely on the right track.
On this occasion, the BRIN research team indicated that there were obstacles to the legislation that had not yet been adopted by the DPR RI regarding new renewable energies.
“He suggested that there should be regulations at the village or local level only, so that petasol can be purchased by farmers or village residents who need it,” Tri Martini said.
Tri said Jokowi admitted he was concerned that farmers were having difficulty finding diesel to power tractors and diesel engines. Therefore, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta agrees that there is a concept of a village, a Faspol.
Jokowi also said that BSB's activities truly address environmental issues, especially those related to waste. “He said, here you can have the economy, you can also have circularity. The environment is clean, the bonus is petasol or fuel,” said Tri Martini.
In fact, Tri said, Jokowi will explicitly convey to President Prabowo that BSB's activities support the agricultural sector. He wants it to be implemented in several villages with agricultural production centers.
After the event, Jokowi admitted that he was happy to see the innovations being made at BSB. “That's good. At least there is a solution to the plastic waste problem and then it can produce fuel. We need to encourage a village to have a machine like BSB's,” Jokowi said.
BSB Chairman Budi said he was grateful for Jokowi's visit. Budi assessed that Jokowi's visit increased BSB's enthusiasm.
At BSB, Jokowi received a warm welcome from residents who had been waiting since the morning. Residents of Kasilib admitted that they wanted to meet the former president in person and ask for a photo.
“I wanted to take a photo with Mr. Jokowi. I'm really happy to finally be able to take a photo with him,” the resident said.
