Court orders jail authorities to produce Imran Khan on January 28 in bail cases

The bail application of PTI founder Imran Khan in six cases and his wife Bushra Bibi in one case was adjourned after jail authorities failed to produce Imran Khan through video link, the channel reported on Tuesday television 24NewsHD.

Islamabad District and Sessions Court Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka postponed the hearing to January 28, directing the authorities to ensure Khan's appearance in the next hearing.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi face charges in several cases registered in 2023, including allegations of arson, vandalism and attempt to murder at Kohsar, Ramna, Tarnol, Karachi Company and Secretariat police stations.

The court has reserved its verdict on Bushra Bibi's bail application, while proceedings on Imran Khan's bail applications are over, according to his lawyer Khalid Yousaf, who spoke to the media after the audience.

Khalid Yousaf said: “Our partial arguments have been concluded, but the failure of the prison authorities to present Imran Khan via video link has delayed the decision.

The lawyer added that Imran Khan's presence through video link had been constant in the past. He expressed hope that the court's January 28 directive would ensure attendance, thereby allowing a decision on bail applications.

“These bail applications were filed before the arrest of the PTI chairman,” Khalid Yousaf said. “They were first dismissed and then reinstated by the Islamabad High Court (IHC). This is the final step in Imran Khan's six pre-arrest bail applications, and a decision is awaited.
