PM Modi to visit Vizag on January 8 to open NTPC Green Hydrogen hub and lay foundation for rail zone
Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Visakhapatnam on January 8 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore, including the NTPC Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub.
He will take part in a road show of the Sampath Vinayaka Temple at the College of Engineering grounds of Andhra University, where a public meeting will be held in the evening.
Launch of NTPC Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone of Visakhapatnam Railway Zone and virtually inaugurate National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) Integrated Green Hydrogen Center at Pudimadaka, Nakkapalli Mandal.
The hub was built with a total investment of Rs 65,370 crore in three phases. Spanning 1,600 acres, this ambitious initiative aimed to make Andhra Pradesh a green energy powerhouse, making India a global leader in green hydrogen production. The project would create 25,000 jobs. The project involves an investment of around Rs 1,85,000 crore.
The facility will produce 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen daily, as well as 4,500 tonnes of green ammonia, 1,500 tonnes of green methanol and 1,500 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or green urea. This production is expected to make India a major exporter of green energy products. This hub is part of India's ambitious goal to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year by 2030.
City of KRIS
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor in Tirupati district. KRIS City, a flagship project of the National Industrial Corridor Development Program, is envisioned as a new smart industrial city.
The project is expected to attract significant manufacturing investments of around Rs 10,500 crore and is also expected to create around 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs, significantly improving livelihoods and promoting regional progress.
Bulk drug park
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a bulk pharmaceutical park at Nakkapalli, which will be developed at a cost of Rs 1,876.66 crore over 2,001.8 acres, with an estimated investment of Rs 11,542 crore, to create 54,000 jobs.
