The government spent up to $80,000 to make the Downing Street press conference room a politically neutral setting.
The briefing room, located at number 9 Downing Street, was renovated in December.
The blue panels that formed the backdrop of the press conference stage were replaced with wooden panels with inlaid lighting.
But in one sign the work is not yet finished, a raw wooden slat remains screwed to the central panel.
The blue panels surrounding the television screen on stage were replaced with gray panels while the blue carpet lining the stage was replaced with one in different shades of gray.
The renovation reportedly cost less than 80,000 euros and largely replaced the blue panels with wooden panels.
Asked about the renovation, the Prime Minister's official spokesperson said: “A one-off refresh of the Number 9 press room has taken place to return the room to a politically neutral setting.
The paneling restores the room to its original state. As you know, the cost is obviously only a fraction of what the previous administration spent on the room.
Under Boris Johnson, the previous government spent 2.6 million converting the space into a TV briefing room which opened in 2021, a move Labor described at the time as a vanity project.

The government had planned to hold White House-style press briefings in the room, in front of a camera, but abandoned that idea.
The room has since been used to host press conferences as well as the daily briefing of journalists.
The exact amount spent by the current government on renovating the hall is expected to be published in due course.
The official spokesperson added: During the budget, we committed to making 80 million savings in government communications. The costs of the refresh will be specified in the usual transparency declarations.
The room previously served as a hearing room for the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council before moving to the Supreme Court building in 2009.
