Giant poster of Jokowi's image at Solo police building removed

Solo police removed a giant poster depicting Joko Widodo or Jokowi that was installed in the police building. The existence of the poster, which remained visible even though Jokowi had retired, became a highlight on social networks.

The move was made on Tuesday (7/1). The removal of the giant poster was carried out using a ladder wagon belonging to the firefighters.

The giant poster was installed at the Solo Police Station shortly after the building was inaugurated in 2022. Surakarta Police Public Relations Chief AKP Umi Supriati only said that the removal of the poster was on order of superiors.
“I received an order from the leadership to delete it. Because there was an order for the photo to be deleted,” Umi told the media team, Wednesday (1/8/2025).
He explained that the removal took time due to the height of the installation location. Surakarta police called on fire and rescue services to evict him.
“Removing it requires time for heavy equipment and craftsmen. And the new design is still waiting,” he concluded.
