Imran Khan proposed abroad for 3 years without knowledge of government: Sahibzada Hamid

Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza on Wednesday claimed that Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was offered to leave the country for three years without consulting the government.

Speaking on SAMAA's Nadeem Malik Live show, Sahibzada Hamid Raza revealed that the offer to send the PTI chief abroad came from sources outside the government soon after the general elections.

He claimed that neither the government nor its representatives were consulted on this proposal.

“The government played no role in this offer,” Sahibzada said, adding that despite negotiation efforts, key locations like Bani Gala or Zaman Park were never part of the discussion.

He described the situation as perplexing and said the lack of clarity was hindering meaningful progress in dialogues between the parties.

Judicial Commission Talks

Sahibzada Hamid Raza then elaborated on the series of meetings held to break the political deadlock.

At the second meeting, the SIC inquired about the government's demands, but was told there were none. He called the government's reluctance to present its position “childish” and suggested it reflected a lack of seriousness.

He stressed the importance of forming a judicial commission to address the grievances of the PTI. “If a judicial commission is not established at the third meeting, the fourth meeting may not take place,” he warned, alluding to the fragility of the ongoing negotiations.

The government denies any involvement

Lawyer Aqeel Malik, government advisor on law and justice, categorically denied any involvement in proposing a deal to the PTI chief or any of its leaders. Speaking during the same program, he clarified that no proposal relating to Bani Gala, Zaman Park or any other place has ever been made by the government.

“The PTI might have wanted some concessions, but no offer was made from us,” Malik said. He also accused the PTI of inconsistency, referring to the party's historic reversals in negotiations.

He further claimed that the government had suggested a compromise involving Sangjani, which was reportedly rejected by the PTI.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza also hinted at possible involvement from sources outside the government. He speculated that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's support and other actions may have come from external influences rather than directives from the prime minister. However, he declined to provide further details.
